The Chittagong University Library is situated in the University Campus which was established in November 1966 in a temporary building. The library was shifted to its own building in 1990. At present the total floor area of the library is 56,700 sft. The present library collection consists of about 4 lakh volumes of printed books, more than 35,000 online journals and e-books, over 40,000 bound volumes of journals and about 1,500 CDs. The library has many sections and corners including Liberations War Book Corner, Reference Section, Rare Section, Newspaper Section, Journal Section, and Photocopy Section.
The library has a resource center named “Accessible e-learning Center” for the physically-challenged students of the university with software and hardware facilities, dictionary, 200 digital talking books, 300 e-books and 50 Braille books. It also provides training to physically-challenged students.
The library has “Bangabandhu Corner” which includes many national and international books written on the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The library also has “Remote Access” facility by which library users can access library resources off campus.
The library has “Cyber Center” with 10 modern computers with internet facilities for the users to access library Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) and also to search online resources of the library.
